Job Ad example: Computer Evidence
Specialist (CES) Levels I, II or III
- Where: Forensic Science Centre in the State of New York
- Qualifications: Computer Science degree from a recognized college or university. For Level I CES, a Baccalaureate Degree or higher in a Computer Science related field supplemented by 80 hours in forensic computer analysis. For Level II, the same plus one year of paid experience carrying out duties similar to Computer Evidence Specialist. Level III, the same, but with five years of paid work.
- The CES duties includes examinations of computers and media generated by computers, to develop evidence in the specialty area of computer forensic science. Specialists prepare duplicate image backup copies of computer media, recover deleted computer files, password protected/encrypted files and hidden information, conduct comprehensive searches of computer media for text, data and images and prepare and/or convert recovered files and information into format compatible with needs.
- Annual salary depends on background and experience:
- CES Level I: $41,800 - $51,800
- CES Level II: $58,900 - $57,500
- CES Level III: $57,400 - $63,600
